Panda Express celebrated Happy Orange Chicken Day by bringing fans together for a day dedicated to its most iconic and best-selling dish, a beloved favorite around the world.
Known as the Home of the Original Orange Chicken in the Philippines, Panda Express continues to satisfy cravings with its signature Original Orange Chicken®, known for its bold, sweet, and tangy flavor. First introduced by Panda Express in 1987, Original Orange Chicken® helped revolutionize American Chinese cuisine, becoming a cultural phenomenon. The crispy chicken, wok-tossed in an irresistible sweet and semi-spicy orange sauce, continues to delight fans and first-timers alike.
Founded in 1983 by co-founders and co-CEOs Andrew and Peggy Cherng, Panda Express has grown from a family-owned restaurant brand into the largest Asian dining concept in the US, with more than 2,500 locations across the country and a presence in 11 international countries. The brand has helped shape American Chinese cuisine with dishes inspired by authentic Chinese flavors and culinary principles, including the Original Orange Chicken®, which it introduced in 1987.
The crispy chicken, wok-tossed in an irresistible sweet and semi-spicy orange sauce, helped revolutionize American Chinese cuisine and became a cultural phenomenon in its own right. For many regulars, it remains a go-to order, whether they’re dining with family and friends or simply treating themselves to a familiar favorite.
Turning up the heat
Its fiery counterpart, Hot Orange Chicken, made a “swicy” comeback on July 15, turning up the flavor and spice. It’s the Orange Chicken guests crave, made with six times the amount of crushed chilies and scorched dried chilies. It’s a must-try for those looking for a bolder, spicier take on the classic.
This year, Panda Express brought a playful twist to its anniversary celebration with an immersive Orange Chicken Kitchen experience at Panda Express SM Megamall, putting fans’ love for Orange Chicken front and center.
The experience featured an All-Out Orange concept with decorated window decals, a claw machine, and a giant takeout pail where guests could take photos. Adding to the fun was a friendly Team OG vs. Team Spicy showdown: Team OG for fans of Original Orange Chicken and Team Spicy for those who prefer Hot Orange Chicken.
A little something for Orange Chicken fans
The celebration also included special offers for Orange Chicken lovers. Guests could enjoy 10% off on GrabFood with a minimum spend of ₱699 on orders featuring Orange Chicken, making it a good opportunity to share the dish with family and friends.
From everyday cravings to meals shared with the people who matter, Orange Chicken continues to be a favorite that makes any occasion a little more special.
