Theatre Group Asia’s “A Chorus Line” Opens to Rave Reviews in Manila

Theatre Group Asia (TGA) has officially opened its highly anticipated production of A Chorus Line at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater in Circuit Makati, and audiences are already raving. Directed and choreographed by Emmy Award-winner and Broadway powerhouse Karla Puno Garcia, the show features an exceptional ensemble of Filipino performers alongside previously announced stars: Tony and two-time Grammy Award nominee Conrad Ricamora as Zach, and Fil-Am Broadway triple threat Lissa de Guzman as Cassie.

Based on the groundbreaking book by James Kirkwood Jr. and Nicholas Dante, A Chorus Line tells the story of seventeen dancers who put everything on the line for a life-changing Broadway audition. On an empty stage, these performers bare their souls, vying for just eight coveted spots. Through monologues and iconic musical numbers—including “I Hope I Get It,” “At the Ballet,” “What I Did for Love,” and “One Singular Sensation”—the production delivers a raw, emotionally charged exploration of struggle, sacrifice, identity, and dreams.

What unfolds is a gripping portrait of the human spirit: its resilience, its desire to be seen, and the lengths people go to for love—not only romantic, but the love found in passion, purpose, and the pursuit of belonging.
