An orange party to celebrate the King’s birthday
This May 5, 2018 the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines together with the Dutch Club Philippines are organizing Kingsday 2018 in the tent of Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati. This famous orange infested event shall open its doors around 8:00PM, and the party is projected to last till around 1:00AM in the morning. As last year was a fantastic success, also this year again we are honored to have Royal Dutch KLM fly in the Hermes House Band from the Netherlands to entertain us with their nostalgic set of 80s and 90s International and Dutch music hits. This along with the unlimited supply of Heineken beer, Dutch Cheese, the famous Bitterballen Dutch snacks, and the major support of Shell and BDO, make a formula for success, fun and networking.
The King’s day is a traditional celebration of the birthday of the King, previously Queen’s day for the Queen’s birthday, and is a national holiday in the Netherlands. It’s widely known for its nationwide flea markets at which the Dutch sell their used items on the streets of their cities and villages. King’s day sees large scale celebrations across the country with concerts and special events in public spaces, especially in Amsterdam. It is an opportunity for “orange madness”(Oranjegekte), a kind of frenzy where the Dutch drink, eat and dance on the streets while dressed in orange clothes. Orange is the color of the Royal Dutch Family, and the national color of the Netherlands.
You can order tickets online at www.dccp.ph/kings-day-party-2018, or through the Philippines Netherlands Business Council Facebook page, or at the door on the evening itself (if not sold out). The Dutch happily and excitedly welcome all nationalities to celebrate alongside each other at this wonderful celebration of the Kingsday 2018!
