The much-anticipated food and travel festival—Kain Na!—returned to Ayala Malls Manila Bay earlier this month, and will be back on September 9 to 11 in Abreeza mall. The multi-day event aims to showcase rich delicacies by SMEs all over the country. Meanwhile, Ayala Malls Capitol Central recently hosted the LakBAYANihan Tourism Fair, which successfully brought Panaad festivities closer to Negrosanons despite limitations caused by the pandemic.

A taste of Filipino heritage at the Kain Na! Food and Travel Festival

Kain Na! is a yearly effort spearheaded by Secretary Berna Romulo-Puyat of DOT, along with members of the Philippine Tour Operators Association Inc. (PHILTOA) and the food tourism consortium. The campaign aims to celebrate Filipino heritage and promote cultural tourism through delicacies found in various regions of the country. To mobilize this cause, public and private sectors are gathered annually at Ayala Malls, which has been the chosen home for both groups to showcase gastronomic delights since its inception in 2018.

The most recent run at Ayala Malls Manila Bay was led and attended by Regional Director Carolina Uy, Regional Director Jovita Ganongan, OIC-Regional Director Armin Hautea, Regional Director Nelia Arina, Asec. Verna Buensuceso, Undersecretary Myra Paz Abubakar, Ayala Malls Consumer Marketing Head Tintin Enriquez-Yabao, DOT Undersecretary Edwin Enrile, Regional Director Sharlene Batin, Regional Director Fanibeth Domingo, Regional Director Cristine Mansinares, OIC-Regional Director Marites Castro, Director Paulo Tugbang, PHILTOA President Fe Abling-Yu.

Kain Na! will continue on September 9 to 11 at Abreeza to support the country’s best culinary talents all over the country. Catch a glimpse of the very diverse Filipino culture through taste, and open up this new means of traveling amidst the new normal.

Preserving culture despite the odds at the LakBAYANihan Tourism Fair

Recently, Ayala Malls Capitol Central had the privilege of collaborating with the Negros Occidental Tourism Division (NOTD) to host the LakBAYANihan Tourism Fair, which aimed to bring the Panaad festivities closer to Negrosanons. This is the first province-wide tourism fair of Negros Occidental since the pandemic started.

The Panaad Festival of Negros Occidental is considered the mother of all festivals in the province. Typically a seven-day summer event, Panaad gathers the best offerings of cities and municipalities across Negros Occidental. In a way, LakBAYANihan was a ‘mini-Panaad’ staging.

A play on the words ‘lakbay’ (travel) and ‘bayanihan’ (community spirit), LakBAYANihan brought together 25 cities and municipalities across Negros Occidental, showcasing their best products, cultural shows, festivities, and tourist destinations at the Capitol Central Activity Center.

All in all, Ayala Malls continues to prove its unwavering role in promoting and reminding the Philippines’ rich heritage through tourism. The lifestyle destination stays quick to innovate, as well as strengthen its partnership with DOT, so that Filipinos around the nation can embrace their culture within a safe, accessible space.
