Adornata presents their latest collection inspired by the Festa del Redentore
Fine jewelry designer Chynna Gonzalez had always found limitless joy and inspiration from the colors around her, and she wanted to keep a piece of that sunshine always with her, which is why she started Adornata in 2016.
Exposed to the beauty and luxury of jewelry design thanks to her grandmother Lualhati, Chynna is drawn to the shimmers and glamor of gold and precious stones, which have helped shape her unique aesthetic.
“The big idea behind Adornata is to be a bridge between fashion and fine jewelry,” explains Chynna. “Pieces are more fun and fashion forward, but rendered in solid gold. They’re beautiful, but also practical because you can wear them every day.” Like many other young ladies, she had wanted to own a luxury piece when she was younger, but found many designs too ostentatious and too bold, definitely not fitting to sensibilities of a more, stylish millennial.
Thus Adornata lends itself to the elegant leanings of this niche crowd, even offering bespoke services to better cater to their clients’ specific tastes.
“I really wanted to incorporate a multi-wear aspect to my designs, something that spoke to the practical sensibilities of every woman… I felt that if I made them versatile and practical, despite them being innately luxurious, it would make clients – like me – feel less guilty because I can maximize its use.” And luxurious, Adornata’s designs are. All pieces are made from solid gold – not gold-dipped – to ensure the durability and material integrity of the jewelry. With a love for color, Chynna spruces up her designs with an array of precious stones, helping impart a touch of modernity and chicness to the forms. “The beauty of colored gems is that I source them in small batches, and are not all the same. Given my heavy-handed use of gems, most of the pieces are one-offs, so every Adornata piece is unique, from material to design.”
The new collection, called Redentore, is inspired by the Festa del Redentore – the fireworks festival – in Venice, which inspired an exciting explosion of color, a true sight to behold. “What sets me apart from the rest is being a millennial, first generation fine jewelry designer; I understand the needs of the new woman and their equal value for style and luxury.
“I believe fine jewelry doesn’t belong in a vault; you need to wear them and they should complement your lifestyle. All in all, my pieces are for the Adornata woman, who is confident, strong and powerful. She is independent and comfortable, and she knows what she wants and how to get it, a go-getter relentless in the pursuit of her goals.”
