Connecting the toy world
The 69th Spielwarenmesse, taking place in Nuremberg from January 31 to February 4 2018, will again feature two special highlights for trade visitors. Following this year’s successful launch of the Tech2Play activity area and Baby and Infant Articles special area, both innovations are set to return. These special shows present trendsetting product innovations and offer interesting add-on ranges suitable for individual business models. The Spielwarenmesse is also taking into account growing demand among visitors for trade fair experiences.
Hands-on activities will again be the order of the day at Tech2Plat in 2018, with an RC drone flight cage, robot racing course and more on offer. The activity area with its modern design already proved very popular in its debut year and will again bring Hall 4A alive at the next Spielwarenmesse.

“This is a superb place to make new contacts; we were easily found by trade visitors looking for information on tech toys and robots,” said Myles Bax from start-up Robotical, speaking of his own experience.
Tech toys are showcased in various categories through to augmented reality – with rapid developments in market-leading products, the Spielwarenmesse team has revised the current Tech2Play categories. Besides high-tech products, toys with established technologies will now also be featured. The new categorization will perfectly support specialist retailers and buyers as they navigate the technology segment.
Trade visitors can also expect to gather great ideas again next year at the Baby and Infant Articles special area. The location between Halls 2 and 3 has proven ideal, with the focus all around on infant products and related ranges.
“I am really impressed with the Baby and Infant Articles special area,” said Anne Meinecke, a buyer with tausendkind GmbH. “You can also see that more and more international and small brand manufacturers are choosing to exhibit here rather than anywhere else.”

Surveys have shown that the relevance of the product range, specialist group interest and product ratings have risen in this product group particular. With the six areas in the product group – baby toys, baby textiles, travel systems, care & nutrition, home & safety, and licensed articles – the Spielwarenmesse is meeting the rising need for this attractive add-on range in the future as well.
Ernst Kick, CEO of Spielwarenmesse eG, summed up the situation during his visit in the Philippines: “Both the Baby and Infant Articles special area and the Tech2Play activity area achieved top marks at the last Spielwarenmesse. By once again shining a spotlight on the products available in these areas, we will offer trade visitors specific inspiration and variety for the range.”
