Nespresso Professional is bringing its premium coffee and state-of-the-art machines to the SMX Convention Center for its maiden participation in the World Food Expo happening today until August 6. For the past 20 years, the expo has successfully covered the trade to consumer markets, strongly working its way to being the biggest food trade show in the country.

To mark this momentous occasion, Nespresso Professional – Nespresso’s business-to-business segment which caters to hotels, restaurants, and cafes or catering services (HORECA), collectively the hospitality & food service industry sector, and corporate offices – will be holding a plethora of compelling activities, as well as announcing the soon arrival of their newest machine from the Professional line: the Momento, a machine designed for meaningful coffee experiences within workplaces and businesses.

Novateur Coffee Concepts Managing Director Patrick Pesengco shared, “Nespresso Professional puts forth the perfect solution for the coffee needs among HORECA and workplaces. It can elevate a customer’s dining experience, exceed a guest’s expectations, and show employees how much they are valued. And that is through our high quality yet simple to use machines as well as selection of exquisite coffees.”

Exciting coffee moments await

Coffee connoisseurs can further level up their iced coffee and cocktail/mocktail game with Nespresso’s Masterclass sessions, with coffee recipe making facilitated by Nespresso Philippines’ Coffee Ambassador JR Abril. For team leaders who like to host their business gatherings, they will get the chance to discover and taste how to best pair coffee with sweets and well-known desserts, such as those from Bizu Patisserie which is a customer and partner of Nespresso Professional, with a Coffee & Food Pairing class.

Elevate your coffee creations

Baristas from up-and-coming and established cafes and restaurants will get a chance to demonstrate their skills in crafting on-the-spot coffee concoctions through a Barista Battle, a first-ever contest that Nespresso will hold, in partnership with Monin – a brand known for their gourmet flavoured syrups. The contest, to be hosted by Lexi Schulze, will be participated by Michael Yu of Bolt Coffee who is also a food photographer and video storyteller who dabbled with making drinks and ending up starting a coffee shop; Marfin Mercano, a barista at Chefs du Partie Inc (CDP Global Table); and Eduard Catudio of Savage and Helm, who started as a server and eventually became a bartender when the multi-awarded Chef Josh Boutwood asked him to create cocktail and non-alcoholic drinks to expand their beverage menu.

While the coffee cocktails will require the use of flowery and refreshing light-roasted blend Nespresso Finezzo Pro, Monin syrup, and the Momento machine, the other ingredients, equipment, and decorations will be decided by the participants. Each creation will be tasted and rated based on taste, uniqueness, preparation, knowledge, and overall look by the jury which is comprised of Nespresso Philippines’ Coffee Ambassador JR Abril, Monin Coffee Innovation Manager for Southeast Asia Fiona Tan, and Anton Diaz of Our Awesome Planet.

The lucky winner of the Barista Battle will receive Php5,000.00 cash, his personal Essenza Mini machine and Aeroccino 3 milk frother, as well as Nespresso Professional coffee set and Monin syrups for the cafe/ restaurant.
