The leading hotelier awards platform celebrated 20 exceptional winners in December 2020 amidst the industry’s existential crisis

For the first time since its inception in 2014, Stelliers recognised last year’s exceptional winners via a virtual awards ceremony on 4 December 2020.  Despite the devasting impact of the pandemic, Stelliers was determined to celebrate the spirit of hospitality and make a mark on sustainable tourism.  In partnership with its Gold Partner Nespresso, Stelliers presented a unique eco-trophy partially made from recycled Nespresso coffee capsules.  As a sign of the post-pandemic era, award winners received their trophy after the event in line with public health measures at respective destinations.  Stelliers endeavours to launch applications on 3 May 2021 and convene a physical awards ceremony on 10 December 2021 in Macau, subject to the safe reopening of international borders.

In alignment with Stelliers’ commitment to sustainability and nurturing future generations of hoteliers, Nespresso took up the challenge of crafting Stelliers’ 2020 trophies to celebrate the infinite recyclability of aluminium and the unyielding spirit of hospitality.  Through this meaningful partnership, Stelliers hope that award winners will be cognizant of the significance behind their achievement and trophy.

“When global tourism came to a halt, Stelliers together with our Gold Partner Nespresso identified a symbolic way to advocate sustainable tourism and our faith in the future of exceptional hospitality.  We are humbled by the winners’ inspirational achievements amidst the most threatening crisis of our lifetime.  Despite the pandemic, we hope that our endeavour will inspire the younger generation to pursue a career in hospitality and continue the great work of all hoteliers globally,” said Stephane de Montgros, Co-Founder of Stelliers.

Nespresso has announced that every cup of Nespresso coffee, both for at-home and for professional customers, will be carbon neutral by the end of 2022.  Over the years, Nespresso has collaborated with world-class brands to reimagine product development using recycled capsules to create a high-quality alloy of aluminium.  Some of these brands include Caran d’Ache’s ballpoint pen and Victorinox’s Swiss army knife.

“There is no doubt that we are in a climate crisis. And our future depends on all of us doing our bit. Sustainability at Nespresso is far more than a desire to act responsibly, it sits at the core of our business. That is why we are accelerating our sustainability commitments to offer our consumers a way to drink a carbon neutral cup of coffee by 2022.  A coffee, made from the finest and rarest beans, sustainably sourced. I truly believe that both our business and the coffee industry can be a force for good in the world and I hope that our commitment will encourage others to follow,” said Guillaume Le Cunff, CEO of Nespresso.

Stelliers, the hotelier awards platform, is a recognised symbol of excellence and a powerful establishment for inspiring the younger generation to enter the hospitality industry.  In 2020, Stelliers welcomed applications from over 85 properties from across Asia, South Asia and Greater China. The inspiring achievements of last year’s winners both impressed and touched the panel of judges. Each winner was decided by an expert judging panel over the course of the year. The two-round judging process was based on a combination of facts presented in the applications, virtual interviews and testimonials, which ensured that the winner of each category was truly deserving.
